Nobu Sweater is a design with clean, timeless lines—an ideal piece to become a staple in your hand-knit wardrobe. Its seamless top-down construction makes it comfortable and a pleasure to knit. The body is worked in double moss stitch, giving it both texture and structure, while the stockinette sleeves provide contrast and softness. With its classic raglan silhouette and neat finish, this is a versatile project suited for both first-time sweater knitters and experienced makers who appreciate beauty in simplicity.
About This Pattern
Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8).
Finished Measurements: 86.5 (95.5, 104.5, 115.5, 124.5) (135.5, 144.5, 155.5) cm / [34.5 (38.25, 41.75, 46.25, 49.75) (54.25, 57.75, 62.25) ”] approximate bust circumference.
Recommended Ease: approx. 7-15 cm / 2.75-6 " of positive ease.
How to Choose Your Size: Measure your bust circumference with a measuring tape. Add the amount of ease you’d like for your garment (you can use the recommended ease range as a guide). Choose the finished measurement that comes closest to that total.
Gauge: 18 sts x 26 rnds = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 “] with main needles in stockinette stitch in the round, after blocking.
Suggested Needle Size
Main Fabric: 5 mm / 80 cm [US 8 / 32"] circular needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.
Hem: 4 mm circular needles, 80 cm [US 6 / 32”] or 1 mm smaller than main needles.
Sleeves: 5 mm and 4 mm double-pointed needles, or your preferred method for small circumferences (such as short circulars or long circulars for Magic Loop).
Yarn and Yardage
Rowan Kid Classic, Aran weight (140 m / 50 g; 153 yd / 1.76 oz; 70% wool, 22% kid mohair, 8% polyamide).
Approximate Yardage: 705 (780, 875, 990, 1080) (1190, 1285, 1415) m / [770 (855, 955, 1085, 1180) (1300, 1405, 1545) yd], or 6 (6, 7, 8, 8) (9, 10, 11) skeins of Rowan Kid Classic.
Note on yarn substitution: Although Kid Classic is categorized as an Aran-weight yarn, it is very light. If you choose to substitute it, keep in mind that a denser Aran yarn may result in a heavier sweater. It might be better to opt for a lighter yarn, such as a DK weight, always checking your gauge.
Notions: stitch markers, blocking tools, scissors, waste yarn to let stitches on hold.
