I love knitting socks! It's a project that can easily be picked up when I only have time for a few rounds, and I can take it with me anywhere! If you're also a sock enthusiast, you'll love knitting this design. It has a fancy stitch that's easy to remember, making it ideal for carrying around!
Regina socks are knitted from the cuff to the toe, and feature a standard flap and reinforced heel. Written for three foot sizes, it includes written and graphic instructions for fancy knitting.
Techniques used: increases and decreases, Invisible Seam (Kitchener), German Twisted Cast On, Magic Loop technique for knitting small circles. All techniques used are explained in the instructions and in videos linked from this pattern.
About This Pattern
Sizes: (1, 2, 3)
Foot width: (18, 20, 23) cm. You should measure the circumference of your foot at the widest part.
Socks are designed to be worn with negative ease. Choose a size with a foot circumference measurement approx. 2.5 cm smaller than your actual foot circumference.
Foot length: Adjustable. To know your foot length you must measure from the tip of your toe to the end of your heel.
Tension Gauge: 32 sts x 48 rows (10 cm) in fancy stitch, knitted in the round and blocked.
Suggested needle size: 2.25mm/US 1 circular needles, or as many as you need to achieve the required tension, length 80cm/32” or longer. Alternatively you can use short needles (23cm) or double pointed needles.
The instructions are written using the Magic Loop method. Each of the tips on the circular needles is labeled A1 (with the first half of the stitches) and A2 (with the second half of the stitches). If you choose to knit your socks on double-pointed needles or short needles, you can place a marker at the beginning of the round (A1) and another at the middle of the round (A2).
