The Catal Top allows you to comfortably wear a subtly scooped neckline without being too revealing. You can wear it with shorts or a skirt on a summer day, or pair it with jeans during the transitional seasons. It is worked seamlessly in the round from the bottom up until the front and back are separated, then worked flat up to the shoulders. Optionally, you can add I-cord edges to the neckline and armholes. The top shown in the photo does not have I-cord finishes.

About This Pattern

Sizes : (1, 2, 3) [4, 5, 6] {7, 8, 9}.

Measurements : (79, 88, 98) [107, 117, 129] {139, 148, 158} cm / (31.5, 35.25, 39.25) [42.75, 46.75, 51.5] {55.5, 59.25, 63.25}” approximate bust circumference.

Recommended Clearance: approx. 2–5 cm / 0.75–2 " of positive clearance.

How to choose your size: Measure your bust circumference with a tape measure. Add the desired ease to your actual bust measurement (you can use the recommended ease range as a guide). Look for the finished garment measurement that comes closest.

Gauge: 19 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4"] in stockinette stitch using the main needles, worked flat and in the round, after blocking.

Suggested Needles: Main circular needle 4 mm/US 6, or size needed to obtain the required gauge. Circular needle 3.5 mm/US 4 (or two sizes smaller than the main needle) for the bottom edge. Needle cable length may vary as needed.

Yarn and Yardage:

Yarn used in the sample: Rosarios4 Príncipe Real , worsted weight (120 m / 50 g (131 yd / 1.76 oz); 50% linen, 36% cotton, 14% natural silk).

Approximate yardage: (420, 480, 545) [600, 670, 740] {815, 890, 960} m/(460, 525, 595) [655, 735, 810] {890, 975, 1050} yd of Rosarios4 Principe Real, or (4, 4, 5) [5, 6, 7] {7, 8, 8} skeins of Rosarios4 Principe Real.

Note on yarn substitution: Although Principe Real is classified as worsted, it differs from most yarns of this weight. If you substitute it, keep in mind that a denser worsted yarn could make the top heavy. It might be better to choose a thinner yarn, such as DK weight, while always checking your gauge.

Other Materials: 1 stitch marker, tapestry needle, waste yarn or stitch holders to hold stitches. Optional: an extra needle of the same size as the main needle for the three-needle bind-off, additional markers for working the lace pattern.
